News has emerged that the Sky TV Player could be set for a release on the Playstation 3. The feature launched on the Xbox 360 recently but was much criticised after the function crashed due to high demand. Sky will hope to learn from these mistakes and plan a smoother launch on Sony's flagship console. PS3 owners will be much interested in the news as it is believed that the launch will add weight to the claim that the console is becoming the ultimate entertainment package.

Sky Executive Giff Parry revealed the news saying, "I can talk generally about or desire to extend to any device that supports a good quality experience to to project the content. The PS3 is clearly a device where that is possible. And so it may well happen in the future. Having said that we are very happy working with the Xbox for the time being."

So with talk of this, plus the rumour of a HD film streaming function, it seems that PS3 owners need never leave the house again. It is thought this could lead to a major downturn in profit for the umbrella and rain mac industries.
