PS3 Input Led To Original PSP Downfall

Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president believes that the PSP did not have the care and attention it required to be a big success due to the major focus on the PS3's launch. In a recent interview, Yoshida confessed a lack of support for the PSP but hopes to rectify this by investing more time in Sony's hand-held representative.

In the interview he said, "We look at all the titles we are working on and try to see if there are any holes or areas where our focus isn't enough." He continued, "A couple of years ago we clearly put too much focus on PS3 titles and that caused a lack of support for the PSP last year. So we need to be focused and gear a lot of our resources back to the PSP, and we have many titles this year."

Yoshida added, "We are continuing to support the PSP. We didn't announce new titles at [Tokyo Game Show 2009], but in the near future we'll have some announcements." With the release of new games on its radar it is clear that Sony promise to deliver this promise. Titles such as Assassins Creed are scheduled to feature on the console and Yoshida confessed that Sony did not take full advantage of the consoles capabilities. This looks set to change however with this latest vow being music to the ears of PSP owners across the globe.
